Mother's Month May is Here!!!! Happy Mother's Month to all of the Mother's out there. We all have our own stories to share about our mother's or ones about being a mother, so here is the quick and dirty version of mine! Mother's Day is a bittersweet day for me. 7.5 years ago my Mother and Best Friend lost her battle with Colon Cancer.
At the time of her diagnosis, my husband and I lived in Orlando and within 2 months decided we needed to move to VA to be with her and help take care of her. I knew that I never wanted to be the one that said, "I should have"...or "I wish we would have done..."...we just did it(yes my husband is a saint). And in that 3 very short years, we did things I hope everyone is privilaged enough to do with their mother, i.e. took her on a surprise all expense paid vacation that she never had, talked tons about everything and more, went to the movies, gave pedicures, and she even got to see me (her baby) have our 1st child and see him through his 1st birthday! Losing her was a complete "game changer" for me and really drove my passion for photography even deeper. I have no regrets! I truly understand the meaning of a photograph, whether it is in my mind or on my wall.
On a lighter side, I am a mom to 2 wonderfully opposite children. My son is a type A child who does amazing in school, is a people pleaser, and is definately the "straight-laced polo wearing" kinda kid. He is very passionate.
My daughter, well she will give us a run for our money. She is the "shy at first", free-spirited wild child that is perfectly content in her neon pink leggings with an opposing color/pattern top and barefeet with wind blowing through her hair. I am so thankful that I am able to capture all of this in each of them!
